Manuel González was the fastest in the free practice of the Portuguese Moto2 GP. The session was marked by constant improvements in times, as track conditions evolved favorably after starting with wet asphalt due to the rain that fell overnight.
These conditions had kept the Moto3 riders off the track minutes before, but in Moto2 the action started immediately. Alonso López (Beta Tools SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) was the initial leader, but was overtaken moments later. In fact, several riders took turns at the top, with López being the fastest at various moments.
The changes in leadership were constant and almost no one held the lead for more than two minutes. In the end, González ended up setting the pace. The Spanish rider from QJMotor Gresini put together a sequence of two fast laps, the best of them in 1m44.900s on the last attempt to surpass teammate Albert Arenas by 0.588s.
Recently confirmed as a MotoGP rider in 2025, Fermín Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) was third at 0.698s, followed by Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) and Jake Dixon (CFMoto Inde Aspar/Kalex). López, who won the first race of the year, ended up only eighth after leading the table at more than one moment.
